POLITICAL PARTIES

Anchor 17

Christian Democratic and Luthionian

"Everyone has the right to assistance and support, to opportunities. At the same time everyone must contribute. It is only the combination of the two that keeps a society going. The 'Rights and Duties' story has been proclaimed by the Christian Democrats for decades. Some of the other parties often focus on one or the other. For us, they are inseparable. Furthermore, CD&L combines economic growth with social protection. We want a society that provides opportunities for entrepreneurs, those who provide oxygen for businesses. Not because we think that profit is the most important thing, but because growth and a solid economy are needed to give everybody the best social protection. And to achieve that we want to strengthen people. To take life in to their own hands. Everybody has talents that we have to utilize to the fullest. Whoever needs it we give a helping hand, who can not keep up we pull along."

Christian Democratic and Flemish (CD&L) is Luthionia's Christian democratic party. The party splintered off from its Belgian counterpart, the CD&V, when Luthionia was founded. It was part of the Government Coalition for ten years from 2002 until 2012, but now it is the largest Opposition party.

The President of the CD&L is Nathalie Van Bael, who replaced Jean Luc Dekippe after his death in 2009. The party's second in command is Marc Vertongen.
